Ledington resigns as Corbin baseball coach
Corbin High School Baseball Coach Rob Ledington announced he was stepping down today, and the search for a new coach is likely to begin in the near future.
In a statement sent out to the media, Ledington outlined his reasons for leaving:
“God is leading my family and me to a new chapter in our lives and a new opportunity to minister to kids and a community through our teaching and coaching. My wife and I are both excited and anxious about this change.
“I sincerely want to thank the community of Corbin for their support to the baseball program and more importantly to all the teachers, coaches, ministers, and parents who have contributed to the make-up and character of my own children! Corbin has been very good to my family and we will truly miss so many people!
“The school and the community of Corbin have greatly enhanced the lives of my family. And, hopefully in time the people of this community will recognize, we too had a positive influence as well.
“Corbin will always have a special place in my heart because two of the most important things which shaped the course of my life, and family occurred here. I began my baseball career as the “bat boy” for Dr. Pepper (which ironically both my sons played for in little league), and I became a Christian at the age of 15. These two very important things have provided direction and meaning throughout my entire life. If my players learned nothing from me regarding the game of baseball, I sure hope they learned that life has no meaning without God! God is good and he has provided for me, even when he should not have…….I think they refer to this as grace, Amazing Grace!
“My family leaves this community having contributed to 10 regional championships (1 in baseball, two in basketball, and 7 in tennis), and 3 sectional championships (one in baseball and two in tennis). But, I hope my family is most remembered by our genuine love for its people! God bless you all and thanks for your influence on our lives!”
