Laurel women arrested in connection with W’burg Wal-Mart theft

Two Laurel County women are facing theft and drug paraphernalia charges following an alleged shoplifting incident at the Williamsburg Wal-Mart early Friday morning.

Williamsburg Police Officer David Rowe wrote on Elizabeth G. Cunnagin’s arrest citation that Dorothy Daniels, a Wal-Mart manager, observed Elizabeth Cunnagin enter the restroom of Wal-Mart allegedly concealing merchandise.

When Daniels confronted her about the merchandise, she ran out of the store and jumped into a black Jeep Liberty that got on I-75 at Exit 11 going northbound, Rowe wrote.

Daniels got the license plate number of the vehicle and Williamsburg Police officer Cody Jeffries caught up to it at the 13-mile marker, according to arrest citations.

Jeffries conducted a traffic stop and upon further investigation police found two laptop computers, two smart phones, two tablets, two flash lights and a Fit Bit band and glass pipe inside the vehicle, Rowe wrote.

Police also found two X-Box One games that were taken from Wal-Mart, Rowe wrote.

Jeffries wrote on Jordan Cunnagin’s arrest citation that the black Jeep she and Elizabeth Cunnagin were in was doing 80 mph on I-75 and had a license plate matching the plate number of the vehicle Daniels had seen leaving the store.

Jeffries wrote on the citation that he determined Elizabeth Cunnagin had two shoplifting warrants for her arrest, and the search of a purse in the vehicle turned up stolen items from Wal-Mart, two needles and a spoon with residue on it.

Jordan Cunnagin and Elizabeth Cunnagin were arrested at 5:16 a.m. Friday and lodged in the Whitley County Detention Center. They were charged with theft by unlawful taking-shoplifting over $500 but less than $10,000 and possession of drug paraphernalia.

Jordan D. Cunnagin, 22, of London, was released from jail about 9:30 p.m. Friday, and Elizabeth Cunnagin, 30, of East Bernstadt, was released from jail about 9:38 p.m. Monday.
