Laurel deputies searching for man who robbed Keavy Grocery
Laurel County Sheriff’s deputies are seeking the public’s help to find the man who robbed Keavy Grocery Thursday night.
According to Sheriff John Root, the man entered the store about 10:40 p.m. armed with a handgun. He went behind the counter where a female clerk was on duty and reached into the cash register to grab a handful of money.
In addition to the money, the robber reportedly took two packs of cigarettes.
Root stated that a male clerk was also on duty at the time.
The gunmen then fled out the front door, running behind the store and fleeing the scene in an unknown vehicle.
Deputy Gilbert Acciardo, the department’s public affairs officer, said the clerks were unable to give deputies a description of the vehicle or the direction in which the robber fled.
Keavy Grocery is located at the intersection of Ky. 312 and Ky. 363, offering three possible escape routes.
The robber is described as 6 foot with a slender build. He was wearing blue jeans that were rolled up, black tennis shoes, a gray hoodie and gloves.
Anyone with any information regarding the suspect or the vehicle is asked to contact the sheriff’s department at (606) 864-6600 or (606) 878-7000.
