UPDATE: Laurel deputies arrest duo wanted in connection with robbery, assault at Walmart

UPDATE: Laurel County Sheriff’s deputies took two suspects wanted in connection with Wednesday’s robbery and assault at Corbin Walmart into custody Friday afternoon.

Deputy Gilbert Acciardo, the department’s public affairs officer said the suspects, identified through tips from the public as 26-year-old Seth Harville and 25-year-old Chelsea Kay Roark, both of Corbin, at a residence on Mazie Road off of Wise Owl Road in the Keavy community.

Acciardo said deputies received additional tips from the public that the duo may be found at the residence.

About 12:55 p.m., deputies led by Sheriff John Root, surrounded the residence.

“(Harville) came running out the back door,” Acciardo said, adding a scuffle ensued and deputies used a Tazer to subdue Harville.

Roark was found inside the residence and taken into custody without incident.

Acciardo said Harville and Roark are each charged with one count of first-degree robbery.

Deputies arrested two other individual inside the residence.

Acciardo said 29-year-old Kyle Holland was charged with second-degree hindering prosecution or apprehension as he allegedly knew Harville was being sought by authorities. In addition, Hollond was served with a Laurel District Court bench warrant charging him with failure to appear in court on two counts of endangering the welfare of a minor.

Thanks to the public’s help, Laurel County Sheriff John Root said deputies have identified the suspects wanted in connection with a robbery and assault at the Corbin Walmart Wednesday night.

Deputy Gilbert Acciardo, the department’s public affairs officer said the department received more than 100 tips identifying the man and woman shown in the video.

“We have been inundated with tips, most of them giving the same names,” Acciardo said. “We are seeking charges against the individuals and will be securing warrants for their arrest.
Acciardo said the incident occurred approximately 5:30 p.m. when a Walmart loss prevention officer approached the duo as they attempted to leave the store.

Loss prevention had allegedly observed the duo taking assorted items including a flashlight, makeup and fingernail clippers.

While the loss prevention officer was speaking with the female, Acciardo said video surveillance shows the male subject come up behind him and assault him numerous times.

The duo then fled the store.

Surveillance from the parking lot shows them leaving in what appears to be an older model white Ford Escape SUV.

The loss prevention officer was transported to the hospital for treatment of what Acciardo described as serious injuries.
