Laurel County Sheriff rounds up suspected drug dealers

For the third time in 2011, Laurel County Sheriff’s deputies and Kentucky State Police spread out across the county for and early-morning roundup of suspected drug dealers.
Twenty five suspects, from whom Laurel County Sheriff’s Public Affairs Officer Gilbert Acciardo said controlled buys of prescription drugs had been made over the last three months, were on the list to be arrested on warrants detectives had secured.
Chief Deputy Eddie Sizemore led one team to residences in the Lily, Keavy and North Corbin communities, knocking on the first door at Hopewell Apartments in Corbin just after 6 a.m.
By 9:30 a.m., Sizemore and his team made nine stops, arresting seven individuals.
Individuals arrested by Sizemore and his team along with their charges included:
• Roger Rains, 40, of Lily, charged with trafficking in a controlled substance
• Hubert Feltner, 68, of Lily, charged with sell/transfer of a simulated controlled substance and trafficking in a controlled substance – second or greater offense
• Aaron Roark, 28, of Corbin, charges not listed
• Wayne Colter, 52, of Corbin, trafficking in a controlled substance
• Brien Vann, 29, of Keavy, cultivating marijuana – less than five plants
• Jeffery Cornett, 39, of Keavy, first-degree trafficking in a controlled substance
• Charles Hurst, 51, of Corbin, trafficking in a controlled substance
Laurel County Sheriff John Root said this roundup is part of a concentrated effort to clean up the drug problem in Laurel County.
He added that these operations will continue as long as there is a drug problem in Laurel County and encourages anyone with information about suspected drug activity to contact the Laurel County Sheriff’s Office, 864-6600.
The names of the other individuals arrested in this operation will be posted as soon as they become available.
