Laurel County school bus involved in wreck Friday afternoon
A Laurel County bus route was interrupted Friday afternoon when the bus was involved in a head-on collision in Cor-Lon Subdivision off of U.S. 25 just north of Hunter Hills Elementary School.
Bus 0601, which school system officials said was carrying about 50 elementary, middle and high school students that had been picked up at Hunter Hills Elementary, was struck by a Nissan Altima on Pleasure Ridge Drive about 4 p.m.
One child initially reported a bump on the head as a result of impact and wanted to go to the hospital. However, she reportedly changed her mind and her parents agreed that she did not have to go.
A second school bus was brought out to pick up the children and complete the route. At least one child was picked up by her parents.
Kentucky State Police, Division of Commercial Vehicle Enforcement is investigating the incident.
Lily Fire Department and Ambulance Inc. of Laurel County also responded to the scene.
