Larry Day
Rev. Larry Day, 73, of Corbin, went home to be with the Lord on Monday, December 24, 2018, at the Greg & Noreen Wells Hospice Center of Hazard, Kentucky.
Born May 1, 1945, in Kenova, West Virginia, Larry was the son of the late Ralph Mitchell & Dora Jean (Alcorn) Day.
Larry was a National Guard Veteran, Member of the Honorable Order of Kentucky Colonels, former Marketing Advertiser in the Radio Industry, Master of Ceremonies at Renfro Valley and an ordained Southern Baptist Minister. He was the pastor of many local churches throughout the years in Whitley County. He loved people and dedicated his life to helping others in need and sharing God’s love. Most of all he loved his wife of 50 years, Betty, and their family. He was dearly loved and will be missed by his family and friends.
Besides his parents, Larry is preceded in death by a brother: Keith Day and two sisters: Diane Day and Sandy Smith.
Larry is survived by his wife: Betty Day of Corbin; three children: Pamela Hood and husband David of London, Michelle Alley and husband Chris of Knoxville, TN and Dusty Day and wife Becky of Corbin; three brothers: David Day and wife Peggy of Columbus, OH, Randy Day and wife Shelia of Logan, OH and Bill Day also of Ohio; five grandchildren and five great grandchildren; plus a host of relatives and friends to mourn his passing.
Funeral services were held Saturday, December 29, at the O’Neil ~ Lawson Funeral Chapel with Rev. Bennie Bush and Rev. John Loudon officiating.
Entombment followed in the Pine Hill Cemetery in Corbin, with family and friends serving as pallbearers.
