Lane Gray Broyles

Lane Gray Broyles, known to many as Gray, passed away on August 31, 2023.
Born on March 7, 1935, in Rockholds, Kentucky, Gray dedicated his life to the service and betterment of his community.
As a Principal and educator for over 28 years in the Whitley County School System, he was a reliable pillar of strength and guidance for countless students. Gray’s thoughtful approach to life left a lasting impact on all who had the fortune to know him.
Gray was a devoted husband to his wife, Unis Broyles, and a loving father to his daughters, Tina Dusina and Sonya Storey. His love extended to his sons-in-law, Roy Dusina and John Storey, and his grandchildren, Kara Dusina, Samuel Storey, and Jacob Storey. Gray is also survived by his half-sister Charlene Sowders and her husband Mike, and his half-brother Randy Broyles and his wife Tammy. He was preceded in death by his parents, Glenn Broyles and Sada Siler, stepfather, Earl Siler, and his sister, Glena Buchanan.
A man of faith, Gray was a leader at the Rockholds United Methodist Church. The Bible verse that guided his life was Micah 6:8, “He has told you, O man, what is good; and what does the LORD require of you but to do justice, and to love kindness, and to walk humbly with your God?” His dedication to service was also recognized through his honorary title as a Kentucky Colonel, a testament to his commitment to his community, and he was a Veteran of the U.S. Army.
The funeral service will take place at Croley Funeral Home on Monday, September 4, at 11:00 am with Rev. Robert Floyd officiating.
Gray will be laid to rest at the Broyles Cemetery, in Rockholds, Kentucky, at 12:00 pm with military honors conducted by American Legion Post #88 of Corbin, Kentucky.
