Lady Hounds to face North Laurel in 13th Region finals Saturday
With a 62-55 win over Knox Central Friday evening, Head Coach Isaac Wilson’s Corbin Lady Hounds punched their tickets to this year’s 13th Region tournament championship game.
Knox did not make things easy Friday, making the Lady Hounds work for every basket. Lady Panther Halle Collins impressed with a game-high 31 points, but in the end, it was not enough as Corbin fought through adversity to take the win.
With the victory, the Hounds now stand at 22-8 on the season. Their only loss since Jan. 10 came at the hands of the North Laurel Lady Jags, who defeated Corbin, 72-46, in a game that they hosted in London on Feb. 2.
The Hounds will get their chance to pay the Jags back for that loss on Saturday when the two teams will meet again in the finals of this year’s 13th Region tournament. North will make their way into the championship with an overall record of 28-5, having defeated Pineville and South Laurel en route to the finals.
Tipoff time for the girls’ 2024 13th Region championship game is scheduled for 7 p.m. Saturday at the Corbin Arena. Look to thenewsjournal.net for coverage after the conclusion of the game.
