KSP searching for meth suspects, find bootlegging operation
Kentucky State Police were searching for two suspected meth makers at a home in Keavy Saturday morning and found 478 cans of beer and bottles of whiskey, vodka and wine.
According to Public Affairs Officer Don Trosper, troopers and officers with the Two Rivers Drug Task Force when to James Karr’s home on Ear Howard Road to serve indictment warrants on Sheila Cornett, 32, of Keavy and John Cornett, 38, of Keavy. They had been indicted by a Laurel County Grand Jury on charges of manufacturing methamphetamine, conspiracy to manufacture methamphetamine and cultivation of marijuana – five plants or more.
While searching the home for the Cornetts, Trosper said the officers discovered the alcoholic beverages and the Cornetts in the basement.
Seized from Karr’s home was:
191 – 12 oz. cans Budweiser beer
161-12oz. cans “Milwaukee’s Best” Light beer
65- 12oz, cans “Natural Light” beer
27 – 12oz. cans “Bud Light” beer
14 – 750ml. bottles “Ancient Age” whiskey
5 – 750ml. bottles “Taaka” vodka
4- 750ml. bottles “Boones Farm” wine
4 – 750ml. bottles MD 20/20 wine
7 – 12oz. bottles “Budweiser” beer
In addition, officers recovered $406 in cash.
Karr was charged with possession of alcoholic beverages in a dry option territory – second offense and hindering prosecution and apprehension.
The Cornetts and Karr were all lodged in the Laurel County Detention Center.
