Knox deputies investigating burglary complaint find man with shotgun and ‘Ninja Death Star”

Knox County Sheriff’s deputies called to investigate a report of a burglary in Gray Saturday discovered a man hiding in the garage with a shotgun and a “Ninja Death Star.”

Sheriff Mike Smith said Deputy Keith Liford was called to the residence on Doctor Parker Lane about 2 p.m. to investigate of a report of a man attempting to break into the residence.

Liford found the man, later identified as 33-year-old Elliott Ernsting of Corbin, inside the garage with a duffle bag containing a saw off 12-gauge shotgun, ammunition and a Ninja Death Star.

Smith said when Liford checked Ernsting’s records; he learned Ernsting was a convicted felon. In addition, Ernsting was wanted in Laurel County for failure to pay fines on alcohol intoxication in a public place and contempt of court charges.

In addition to the warrant, Ernsting was charged with two counts of carrying a concealed deadly weapon and possession of a firearm by a convicted felon.
