Knox County Constable arrested for DUI

Knox County Constable Carl Bolton was arrested and charged with driving under the influence Friday morning.
Knox County Constable Carl Bolton has been charged with driving under the influence of alcohol following a traffic stop on the Corbin Bypass in Whitley County Friday morning.
According to the arrest citation, Bolton, 50, had a blood alcohol level of .148, almost twice the legal limit in Kentucky, which is .08.
Kentucky State Police Division of Commercial Vehicle Enforcement Officer Mike Hamblin stopped Bolton just after midnight as he was traveling east on the bypass.
Hamblin stated that he stopped Bolton after observing his vehicle cross the center line three different times.
Bolton reportedly told Hamblin that had consumed seven to nine beers, finishing the last one about 15 minutes prior to the traffic stop.
Hamblin added that Bolton had a strong odor of alcohol and glassy and bloodshot eyes.
A portable breathalyzer test indicated the presence of alcohol. Bolton was able to successfully complete several field sobriety tests. He was taken to the Corbin Police station where the breath test was administered and then lodged in the Whitley County Detention Center on one count of driving under the influence of alcohol/drugs.
He was released on a $750 surety bond at 9:50 a.m. No court date has been set in the case.
Bolton is the constable in district five, which the Gray and Woodbine areas of Knox County. He has also served as a Knox County Sheriff’s Deputy, chief deputy and animal control officer.

I’m sure Carl was just “having a glass of wine with his dinner at Fiesta” and was heading home. Vote NO to package sales in Corbin. We don’t need it!
