KLC presents Senator Stivers with “Friend of Kentucky Cities” award
Kentucky Senate President Robert Stivers was recently presented with the Kentucky League of Cities (KLC) 2022 “Friend of Kentucky Cities” award during City Day/City Night in Frankfort. KLC Executive Director and CEO James D. Chaney and President and Southgate Mayor Jim Hamberg presented Stivers with the award during the event.
The KLC Board of Directors named Senator Stivers a 2022 award winner for his work on behalf of cities during the 2022 Regular Session.
“President Stivers has long understood the value of cities and their link to the growth and success of Kentucky,” Chaney said. “We appreciate his willingness to work with us to pass measures that help local leaders improve their communities.”
KLC Director of Public Affairs Bryanna L. Carroll noted that Stivers played a key role in securing opioid abatement funds for local communities. “House Bill 92 was a top priority in the 2022 session, and President Stivers was instrumental in helping finalize the measure to ensure cities received direct funding to battle the epidemic. We appreciate his support on this and the dozens of other measures legislators passed last year that will help our cities continue to thrive and prosper.”
“Local cities are at the heart of what makes life in the commonwealth so rich,” said Stivers. “I’m truly honored to be named a 2022 ‘Friend of Kentucky Cities,’ and I thank the board for recognizing all this legislature does for Kentucky’s cities and the many small businesses that help them thrive.”
Founded in 1927, the Kentucky League of Cities is a membership association of more than 370 cities across the commonwealth. KLC presents the “Friend of Kentucky Cities” award to legislators who perform outstanding work advocating for issues important for cities across the state.
