Kissing Stone added in Corbin
Area couples searching for a perfect place for that first kiss, wedding proposal, or other romantic moments need to look no further than the head of the Ed Tye River Walk which now features the kissing stone.
The work of Marty Jordan, of Written in Stone, the flat stone has been placed in the grass just off the path near the Engineer Street Bridge.
The stone features the words, “Love Begins Here,” and, “Corbin Kissing Stone,” along with two sets of footprints.
Jordan said he got the flat stone from Nature’s Way on U.S. 25, and used a stencil machine and rubber cutouts to create the design.
The design was then sandblasted into the stone.
Jordan said the idea is for the couple to stand on the stone with the bridge in the background and take a picture while kissing.
“It is something unique,” Jordan said when asked why he offered the stone to Corbin.
Jordan said the stone has been treated with several layers glaze coating to keep it from being damaged by weather.
Corbin Tourism Director Maggy Monhollen had the stone placed at the head of the creek walk with the hope that couples would share their photos at the stone online with the hashtag #corbinkissingstone.
“What a better way to spread love and kindness?” Monhollen asked.
