Keavy man charged with attempting to steal meds from Baptist ER
A Keavy man was arrested at Baptist Health Corbin Saturday night after he allegedly attempted to steal vials of medication from a trauma cart at the hospital emergency room.
Twenty-eight-year-old Micah Hammack is facing one count of theft by unlawful taking of the value of $500.
According to Corbin Police Lt. James Miller, Hammack was a patient at the hospital when he walked by the cart in the ER hallway.
“He was going back to his room and had broken off the security tabs and took the vials,” Miller said of Hammack. “One of the nurses caught him.”
Miller said the vials contained a medication administered through an injection into an IV to treated infant related heart issues.
“He didn’t know what they were,” Miller said of Hammack.
Hammack was taken to the Whitley County Detention Center and released about four hours later on his own recognizance.
