After 45 years, officials with the Keavy Fire Department announced the department would no longer cover the portion of its district located in Whitley County.
A joint letter from Letch Day, Chairman of the department’s Board of Directors, and Chief Richard Bales was sent to the Whitley County Fiscal Court with a copy posted on the department’s Facebook page to announce the decision in the area of Ky. 312 between the Corbin city limits and the Laurel/Whitley county line, along with the adjoining side streets, and Browning Acres Road.
