Kane Brown to kick off busy month at The Arena in Corbin with Friday concert

As the calendar turns to February on Friday, business will be picking up at The Arena in Corbin, which will feature something to do each weekend, and another show first featured on, “America’s Got Talent.”
Friday night, The Arena will be packed as rising country star Kane Brown takes to the stage.
Arena Director Kristi Balla said Brown’s show marks the fourth time the venue has sold out the whole house.
Brown joins Lynyrd Skynyrd, WWE, and Brantley Gilbert in reaching the 6,500-seat capacity.
“Kane Brown had the quickest sellout,” Balla said.
With the show sold out, Balla said overflow parking will be available in The Corbin Center parking lot at the bottom of the hill. Free shuttle service to and from the show will be provided.
The buses will drop off and pick up concert-goers at the back of the building, where they may enter and later exit the building.
“The first time we shuttled people to the back of the building was at the WWE show and it worked great,” Balla said noting it allows staff to get people into the building more quickly.
Balla emphasized that the restrictions on items that may be carried into The Arena remain in effect.
Patrons are prohibited from bringing in:
- Bags and briefcases
- Backpacks
- Large women’s purses. Small clutch bags are allowed
- Video cameras or recording devices
- Laser pointers or noise makers
- Weapons of any kind – including pocket knives
- Alcoholic beverages, illegal drugs or paraphernalia
- Selfie sticks
- Laptop computers or tablets
- Coolers
- Luggage of any kind
- Camera bags
In addition, Balla said that guests should be aware that metal detectors, hand-held wand screening and bag checks will be performed as they enter.
Balla said Kane Brown is a Live Nation production.
Another Live Nation event will be announced for later in the year.
“They (Live Nation) got here and realized we are a viable option,” Balla said.
Feb. 9 and 10, The Arena will host the RK Gun Show.
The show will run from 9 a.m. until 5 p.m. Feb. 9 and 9 a.m. until 4 p.m. on Feb. 10.
Admission is $10 for adults and $4 for children ages 6-12.
Organizers said the show will feature a variety of vendors displaying guns, hunting supplies, military surplus and outdoor gear.
Wednesday, Feb. 13, The Arena welcomes “Illuminate.”
The dancers wear special lighting systems that produce amazing effects in the darkened venue.
“This will be our first show were we have blacked it out and given it a theater feel,” Balla said. “It is different than anything we have done before.”
The patented technology has been used in shows featuring Christina Aguilera and The Black Eyed Peas, and on multiple television shows including, “America’s Got Talent,” “Dancing with the Stars,” and “X Factor.”
Ticket prices range from $25 to $35 and are available online at www.ticketmaster.com, or at The Arena box office.
After taking a year away from Corbin, one of the most popular shows will be returning for two nights of car crushing action. The Monster Truck Nationals will be in town Feb. 15 and 16.
Among the trucks scheduled to appear are War Wizard, Tailgator, Kamikaze, Vendetta and Stomper.
While the main event will begin at 7:30 each night, festivities will begin with a pit party at 5 p.m.
At the pit party, you will be able to get up close to each of the trucks for pictures and get autographs from the drivers.
For an additional $10 per person, you will be able to take a ride in the Mighty Monster Bus Ride Truck.
Tickets are $30 for gold circle and $14 for price level two, in advance.
On the day of the show, tickets are $30 and $17, respectively.

“It was a joint decision with the promoter, but it felt good to skip a year,” Balla said.
“This usually sells out both days. You will want to get there early, to look at the trucks and to make sure you are in your seat when the show starts,” she said.
February will wrap up with one of the greatest times of the year for high school sports.
The Arena will once again play host to the 13th Region Basketball tournaments beginning Feb. 25.
The tournaments will run through March 4.
Game times will be determined upon completion of the respective district tournaments.
Balla said the tournament drew more than 15,000 fans in 2018.
Tournament ticket packages will go on sale beginning Feb. 18.
Individual tickets will go on sale each night of the tournament. Because of the number of people attending, Balla said additional ticket windows will be open.
“We don’t sell individual tickets in advance because the people buying them are usually wanting to see particular teams play.
Balla said March and April are lining up to be busy at The Arena as well, with
Cledus T. Judd, Casting Crowns, Super Bull Professional Bull Riding and Puddle of Mudd already announced.
“We are still waiting on some stuff for April,” Balla said,
“We will have a lot of family stuff this year. Just a variety of things that everybody can come to,” Balla said.
