Justin Haddix to be named new head football coach at Corbin
Reports began circulating this morning on social media that Perry County Central head football coach Justin Haddix was going to be named as the new head coach of the Corbin Redhounds football program. Shortly thereafter, Mr. Haddix used his personal Twitter account to retweet posts saying that he is indeed heading to Corbin. He has also retweeted several tweets from PCC players wishing him luck and saying that they will miss him.
When contacted about the situation, Haddix said, "I’m very excited about getting the opportunity to coach a traditional football power like Corbin. I’m ready to get started."
As for what role he will fill outside of football at Corbin, he said, "I’m sure I will be involved at the high school in some capacity, but we’re still working on the specifics of that right now."
Haddix also commented that he has not yet had an adequate amount of time to consider exactly who will make up his supporting staff of coaches, but he said that he plans on doing the right thing for the program, and he wants to make sure that the best group of coaches are in place in time for the start of the season.
During his high school years, Haddix played quarterback for Breathitt County, where he led the team to a 51-0 victory over the Redhounds in the 2002 finals. He would go on to play at Western Kentucky University.
He has compiled an overall record of 26 wins and 20 losses during his time as head coach of the Perry Central Commodores (since 2010).
A press conference has been scheduled for 3:30 on Monday afternoon to officially announce Haddix’s arrival at Corbin. We will provide full coverage in next Wednesday’s edtition of The News Journal.
