Junior Redhound Theater presents: ‘The Rockin’ Snow White Musical’ April 21-23
What do you get when you cross a classic fairytale with early Rock ‘n Roll?
The answer can be seen April 21-23 at Corbin Middle School as Junior Redhound Theater presents: “The Rockin’ Snow White Musical.”
Like the famous Disney movie, Theater Director Brandise Grimes said the audience will see Snow White meet her prince and the comedy of the seven dwarves.
“It still has the excitement of being a new story,” Grimes said explaining that it has a 1950’s feeling with music of the era.
“We are not doing the traditional Snow White costumes,” Grimes added.
The story begins with two children arguing about the story with actors depicting each child’s version of the prince coming across Snow White who has fallen asleep.
Their mother steps in and begins to tell the story which the actors then present on stage.
Grimes said 26 students make up the cast, all of them, with the exception of one fourth-grader, coming from the middle school.
Grimes said that it has been two years since Junior
Redhound Theater has performed a musical, but after seeing the talent available at the school during the fall performance, she was excited to try it.
“We have a really great group of kids,” Grimes said. “I wanted to showcase the talent that we have.”
The performance will run one hour and 15 minutes in two acts with a 10-minute intermission.
Performance times are 7 p.m. each night.
Admission is $8 for adults and $5 for students with proceeds going to help fund future Junior Redhound Theater Productions.
