Jones Plastic & Engineering in Williamsburg donated school supplies to employee’s children during an event held on Friday, July 22, where employees pre-registered 249 children for the event.
Employees with children of any school age – ranging from kindergarten to college – were treated to a buffet of school supplies, which was fully loaded with pencils, colored pencils, crayons, rulers, spiral notebooks, colored file folders, hand sanitizer, glue sticks, and pencil pouches, or as company officials put it, “everything the parents need for school but the kid.”
Jones Plastic last held the event in 2019 and it proved to be a very popular event for the employees.
“We couldn’t do this in 2020 or 2021 due to COVID 19. It is fun to get back into it now,” said Bryan Edwards, HR Manager.
Payroll Administrator Michelle Sparks said that anything left over would be donated to one of the local schools.
Jones Plastic has a history of social responsibility ranging from a co-op program for high school seniors and helping with the beds for children program to donating welding helmets, welding rods, and steel stock for the Whitley County High School vocational program.
In addition, the company has donated uniforms for South Whitley Savages football team, and shoes for Whitley County soccer team.
