Joint investigation leads to discovery of 106 grams of meth

A Corbin man is facing several charges after a joint investigation by the Williamsburg Police Department and Kentucky Probation and Parole led to the discovery of approximately 106 grams (almost 4 ounces) of suspected methamphetamine.

Larry B. Shelton, 38, was arrested at a residence along Grove Road in the Bee Creek area on Jan. 5.

Shelton was charged with first-degree trafficking in a controlled substance-over two grams of meth, first-degree persistent felony offender and a probation violation, due to his extensive history of prior felony convictions, according to a Facebook post from the Williamsburg Police Department.

The investigation was conducted by WPD Chief Wayne Bird, Investigations Lieutenant Bobby Freeman, and Parole Officers Angie Ballou and Paul Johnson. Whitley County Police Chief Jason Wilson assisted with the arrest.

Shelton was lodged in the Whitley County Detention Center.
