Jellico official, four women cited for ‘sex acts’ at restaurant in Knoxville

KNOXVILLE (WATE) – Four women and the vice mayor of Jellico were cited for sex acts Thursday night during an undercover sting at a Mexican cantina in South Knoxville.
Officers said they saw lap dances and a woman who exposed herself during a dance at El Tenampa Garibaldi Cantina at 6547 Chapman Highway. The business is also known as Cantina of Knoxville. They have a beer license, a restaurant license, and nothing more.
The four women were cited for prohibited sex acts in an establishment with food and alcohol. They are: Kira Taylor, 20, Stephanie Nichole Goins, 27, Charissa S. Parks, 22, and Vanessa Denise Perry, 22.
Police said the manager of El Tenampa is Michael Paul Johnson, 29, the vice mayor and finance commissioner of Jellico. He’s also an executive at First Tennessee Bank.
Johnson was issued four of the same citations, one for each woman.
In 2006, the Jellico mayor said in a write-up that Johnson graduated from Fonde Christian Academy in 1999.
The mayor also said Johnson spent seven years in banking in Corbin, Kentucky and returned to his hometown to perform public service.
Johnson says he’s only a silent partner in the business. He tells 6 News he was at the wrong place at the wrong time.
"I am not the manager of the establishment. I’m a silent investor. I just happened to be there to do some paperwork for the business," said Johnson.
The sting lasted from 10:30 p.m. Thursday until 2:00 a.m. Friday. 6 News asked Johnson what happened during the sting.
"Apparently one of the young ladies who worked there showed some upper nudity, and after that things spiraled out of control," said Johnson.
Police said they investigated the cantina after multiple complaints from citizens on possible illegal activity.
A bartender at the business insisted that even though they have a dance floor with a pole, there’s nothing more than innocent Spanish dancing going there. She says the girls dress no different than a Hooters waitress.
"They have their little shorts on and maybe a G-string type outfit," said bartender Laura Jacabo.
The Facebook page for Cantina of Knoxville clearly describes the business as "a little bit sinful" with pictures of scantily clad women.
El Tenampa also failed its most recent health inspection by 10 points thanks to roaches, mold and other violations (see story here.)

Did I read that correctly that he graduated from some type of Christian school?
