James Russell Majors
James Russell Majors, 88, of Corbin, passed away on Wednesday, April 18, 2018, at Continue Care Hospital in Corbin.
Born in Knox County, Russell was the son of the late Robert and Mattie Stamper Majors.
He had worked in job printing and office equipment and supplies and was the former owner of Chandler Printing Co.
He was a member of Central Baptist Church where he was a past deacon and had served on several committees. He was founding member and past president of Corbin Jaycees, and past president of Corbin Rotary Club. When time permitted, he enjoyed fishing and other outdoor activities.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his siblings: Glenn Majors, Robert Majors, Jr., Audrey Pennington, Emma Bennett, and Curtis Majors.
Russell is survived by his wife Buelah Majors; sons Dr. Phil Majors (Gayle, M.M.) and Dr. Gerald K. Majors (Glenda, R.N.); grandchildren: Jamie Spencer, NR, EMT, Dr. Kristin Majors-Moore (Wes), Matthew Majors, M.S., R.D., L.D. (Kacie, R.N.), and Megan Majors, M.S.; great-grandchildren: Jaden Spencer, Myles Masten, and Clark Majors.
The funeral service was held Saturday, April 21, at Central Baptist Church in Corbin with Rev. James Vandy and Rev. Chad Fugitt officiating. Burial was in the Worley Cemetery.
Serving as pallbearers were Matthew Majors, Wesley Moore, Karl Bennett, Kirk Bennett, Howard Bennett, Randy Lawless, Carl Rains, and Gary Singley with The Cornelius Class and Band of Brothers serving as honorary pallbearers.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions are suggested to Central Baptist Church or Samaritan’s Purse.
