James Robert Webb
James Robert Webb, age 85, of Jellico, Tennessee passed away Friday, August 6, 2021 at the Methodist Medical Center of Oak Ridge. He was born November 26, 1935 in Winfield, Tennessee.
James made friends everywhere he went and was known affectionately to his family as “Poppy”. He modeled and taught his children and grandchildren to always “be kind”. He was an Army Veteran of the 969 Field Army Battalion, Korea as well as the 7974 Signal Depot Samur, France. He received the Good Conduct Service Medal and the Korean Service Medal along with becoming Specialist 3. James was a member of the Jellico Masonic Lodge for sixty plus years. He was a faithful member of the Crouches Creek Missionary Baptist Church and former Postmaster of the Jellico Post Office.
James is preceded in death by his parents, Rev. Robley and Etta Blankenship Webb; brothers, Columbus, Willard, John and Monroe Webb; sisters, Gladys Foley, Pauline Lambert and Edna Kennedy.
He is survived by his wife, Alice Fredericks Webb; son, Timothy Webb and wife Tammy and their children Caroline Webb and Timothy Reese Webb; daughter, Scarlet Henderson and husband Keith and their son Graham Henderson; special niece, Heather Kennedy Brownlie; brothers, Estes Webb and Paul Webb; a host of nieces, nephews, friends and family to mourn his passing.
The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 pm on Tuesday, August 10, with the funeral beginning at 8 pm at the Crouches Creek Missionary Baptist Church. With Rev. Mike Sutton and Brother Mark Tidwell officiatin.
Burial will be Wednesday, August 11, at 11 am in the Douglas Cemetery (Wooldridge Community) Jellico, Tennessee Military Honors will be conducted by the Jellico Honor Guard.
