James Neal Prewitt
James Neal Prewitt, age 85 of Lot Mud Creek Road, Williamsburg, Kentucky departed this life on Thursday, July 29, 2021 at Jean Waddle Care Center in Somerset, Kentucky. He was born on March 2, 1936 in Williamsburg, Kentucky to Jerry Dewey Prewitt and Nannie Butler Prewitt. He was preceded in death by his parents.
He was also preceded in death by his wife, Laura Jane Croley Prewitt; sisters, Clara Haggan, Grace Carroll, Delores Vest, and Loretta Bowlin; his brothers, Charles Prewitt, John Albert Prewitt, Quentin Prewitt and Albert Lee Prewitt.
He was retired US Army MSG with over 23 years of service serving in the Vietnam Campaign with three tours. He was a Kentucky Colonel.
He is survived by daughter, Debra Ann Stadler of Williamsburg, Ky; three grandchildren, Joseph Davis of Williamsburg, Ky, Rosafay Davis of Dalton, Georgia, Crystal Johns and husband Roger of Williamsburg, Ky; five great-grandchildren, Tessa Smith, Tarrah Davis, Makayla Johns, Austin Fox, and Joseph Davis III; three great-great-grandchildren, Jaycee Smith, Calvin Smith, and Malachi Smith; and sister, Joyce Prewitt Bowlin of Michigan. Several nieces and nephews, and a host of other family and friends to mourn his passing.
Funeral service was held on Monday, August 2, at the Croley Funeral Home with the Rev. Lester Cox officiating. He will be laid to rest in the Prewitt-Family Cemetery on Mud Creek.
