James Larry Callahan

Reverend James Larry Callahan, age 71, of Barbourville, Kentucky, passed away Sunday, January 22, 2023 at Baptist Health Lexington in Lexington, Kentucky.

James was born September 14, 1951 in Hyden, Kentucky to the late Kelly and Bernice (Baker) Callahan.

In addition to his parents James was preceded in death by three sisters, Geraldine Benard, Jewel Kuhn, and Jeanette Callahan; and one brother, Donald Ray Callahan.
James was the former pastor of Slate Ridge Bible Church for over 15 years. James owned an operated Callahan Trucking. He enjoyed spending time with is two grandchildren and attending area churches.

James is survived by his loving wife of more than 39 years, Judy (Lake) Callahan; one daughter, April Mahan and husband Scott Mahan of Barbourville, Kentucky; two grandchildren, Skyler Mahan, and Addison Mahan both of Barbourville, Kentucky; one sister, Debra C. Wright of London, Kentucky; two brothers, Darrell Callahan and wife Freda of Leslie County, Kentucky and Donnie Callahan and wife Karen of Carlise, Ohio; several nieces, nephews, and a host of family and friends to mourn his passing.

Funeral services will be held Saturday, January 28, at 1:00 PM in the Croley Funeral home Chapel with Rev. Raymond Parks and Rev. Bill Wilder officiating.

Following the services James will be laid to rest at Bennett Cemetery.

Visitation will be held Friday, January 27, from 5 PM to 9 PM at Croley Funeral Home.
