James “Beaver” Matthew Powers
James “Beaver” Matthew Powers, age 57, of Verne Road, Williamsburg, Kentucky departed this life on March 24, 2023 at his home.
Beaver was born on October 31, 1965 in Toledo, Ohio to David Lee Powers and Mary (Logsdon) Powers.
He was preceded in death by his mother, Mary (Logsdon) Cureton; brother, Daniel Powers; sister, Lucy Tanner; grandmother, Bernice Powers, and great grandfather, Ephraim Powers.
Beaver retired from the U.S. Army, after serving over 20 years, with tours in Desert Storm and Afghanistan.
Beaver is survived by his wife of nine years, Rebecca (Maxey) Powers of Williamsburg, Kentucky; three children, Shawn Powers (Alexa) of Germany, Justin Powers of Germany, Santana Wilson (Jordan Powell) of Williamsburg, Kentucky; grandson, Kayden Powell; father, David Lee Powers (Kathy) of Williamsburg, Kentucky; sisters, Diane Alward (Rick), Gina Lawson (David), Rosie Dodson, and Ann Goins, all of Williamsburg; brothers, Mark Powers of Williamsburg, Kentucky, Jimmy Powers of Williamsburg, Kentucky, Chuck Cureton (Dana), Robert Cureton (Nicole), and Sam Cureton (Nicole), Dean Owens of Williamsburg, Kentucky; special brother, Nathan Jones (Fawn) of Australia; aunts and uncles, Joyce and Kenny Partin, Barbara Logsdon, Robert Logsdon, Bill and Betty Logsdon, James Hill, Barbara Moul, Rosa and George Perkins, and Ruth Durham and Homer Brewer; several nieces and nephews and a host of other family and friends to mourn his passing.
Visitation will be 11:00 AM until the funeral hour on Saturday, April 1, 2023 at the Croley Funeral Home Chapel.
Funeral service will be 1:00 PM on Saturday, April 1, 2023 at the Croley Funeral Home Chapel with Dr. Fred Cummings officiating.
He will be laid to rest in the Powers Family Cemetery,
Graveside Military Honors will be conducted by American Legion Post #88 of Corbin, Kentucky.
