JACKETS START STRONG

Corey Shelton scored 23 points and Skylar Griffith added 16 points as the Yellow Jackets defeated Heritage High School of Maryville, Tn. in the first-round of the Williamsburg Holiday Tournament Thursday afternoon. The Jackets trailed in the first quarter, but took a 15-12 lead late in the period and never trailed again.
The Jackets built a 40-29 lead midway through the third quarter when Logan Hamblin scored on a put back from the paint. The biggest lead came early in the final period on a basket by Griffith (53-35).
The Yellow Jackets will play Upperman (TN) at 5 p.m. in their second-round game. Knox Central rolled past Buckhorn in the second game of the tournament.
Knox Central will play the winner of the Williamsburg-Upperman game Friday at 3 p.m. Buckhorn will play Heritage at 1 p.m. Friday with the winner playing the Williamsburg-Upperman loser at 5 p.m. The final two games will be played Saturday at 1 p.m. for third place and the championship at 3 p.m.
