Whitley Co. 4, Bell Co. 0: The Whitley County Colonels won their sixth game in a row with a 4-0 win over the Bell County Bobcats Tuesday night.
Stevie Watson and Alex Rose combined for a no-hitter in shutting out the Bobcats.
Corey Crisologo led the Colonels on offense with two hits and one of the four runs scored. Jordan Crusenberry scored twice in the win and earned three walks in the game.
Watson, who struck out eight, had two RBI’s for the Colonels.
Crusenberry scored the first run of the game in the top of the fourth when he walked to lead off the inning. Crisologo singled to third base on a bunt and moved Crusenberry to third. He scored on a ground out to third by Watson.
The Colonels (15-6) added three insurance runs in the top of the sixth when Crusenberry led off with a walk, Tilmon Jackson hit into an error at short. Crisologo picked up an RBI with a single to short as the Colonels went ahead, 2-0.
Watson grounded out to first with one out, allowing Crusenberry to score while Crisologo ended up at third. Cody Lewis flew out and Crisologo scored the fourth run of the game.
Corbin 3, Knox Central 2: The Redhounds had to score a run in the bottom of the seventh to pull out a win over the Knox Central Panthers Monday at Don House Field, 3-2.
Freshman Corey Ledington led the Redhounds on offense, going two-for-three with an RBI.
The Panthers scored two runs in the top of the fifth to take a 2-0 lead, but Corbin began its come-from-behind bid in the bottom of the inning when Andrew Jones led off with a single then scored on a single by Ledington.
The Redhounds (13-11) tied the game in the bottom of the sixth when Jacob Metzger reached base on a fielder’s choice as Nick Vorbeck was shot down going to third.
Cody McHargue came in to run for Metzger and went to second on a single by Keaton Burton. Austin Combs doubled home McHargue, tying the game at 2-2. Burton was thrown out trying to score on the play.
With the game tied 2-2 in the bottom of the seventh Kevin Goins reached in an infield error with one out, but ended up at third on the play. He scored on a single to left field by Ledington.
Hazard 21, Williamsburg 1: The Hazard Bulldogs scored 12 runs in the top of the fifth inning and opened the flood gates in a 21-1 win over the Williamsburg Yellow Jackets in a first-round All “A” Sectional game at Briar Creek.
The visitors struck for three runs in the top of the first and never looked back. Jordan Olinger hit a two-run triple with Austin Johnson and Wells on base. Olinger scored on a RBI single by J.T Haynes.
The Bulldogs (19-6) scored two in the third and four in the fourth, taking a 9-0 lead before the Yellow Jackets struck.
Logan Hamblin opened the bottom of the fourth with a base hit then went to second on a passed ball. He scored on a two-out double down the third base line by Dalton Peace.
Hazard advances to the final eight teams in the small school tournament at Whitaker Park in Lexington Saturday at noon. They will play Heath, out of the first region.
Williamsburg (10-9) will travel to Middlesboro Thursday while Corbin host Bell County Wednesday and Whitley Co. goes to Barbourville Wednesday.
