The Corbin Redhounds smacked four home runs in the top of the sixth inning to blow open a close game at South Laurel Tuesday in beating the Cardinals, 12-2.
Leading 3-1 going into the top of the sixth, Trace Vorbeck led off the inning with a home run over the right center field fence. An out later, Cody Duncum sent one over the left center field fence for a 5-1 lead.
The Redhounds exploded for six more runs when Vinnie Hoover doubled to center field. Drew Farley followed with a bunt to score Hoover. A walk to Omar McDaniel left runners at first and second with senior Josh Coppock at the plate. Coppock hit the second pitch by Charlie Davis over the center field fence for a three-run homer and 9-1 lead.
Corbin still wasn’t finished as Ben House drew a walk and scored on a two-run homer by Vorbeck, his second of the game and third in the last two games.
The Redhounds took an 11-1 lead, but was unable to put the Cardinals away when Jessie Wilks doubled with two outs and scored on a Caleb Blair base hit.
Hoover added a 12th run for the Redhounds in the top of the seventh. Hoover had a two-out double and scored on a throwing error by Stephen Simpson.
