Whitley County Sheriff’s deputies discovered nearly a dozen marijuana plants late last week that would have been worth about $20,000 when fully matured.
The marijuana plants were found in an open field growing inside four plastic buckets across from a residence, which was at 8980 Savoy Road, police said.
Sheriff Lawrence Hodge said Deputy Glen Bunch discovered the plants about 8 p.m. Thursday while answering a call concerning a domestic dispute in the area.
Hodge said that no arrests have been made, but deputies are trying to identify the owner of the plants.
Sheriff’s deputies destroyed the marijuana Friday morning by compacting the plants in the back of a garbage truck.
