High School Football Round-Up: Week 5

Three coverage area teams were on the road this week, but only two managed to return home victorious.

The Corbin Redhounds remained perfect on the year in week 5, soundly defeating the Somerset Briar Jumpers, 45-7. The Hounds are now in a bye week before returning to action at Simon Kenton on Sept. 30.

The Lynn Camp Wildcats were also successful in week 5, grinding out an 8-6 win over Jackson County. The victory breaks a three-game losing skid for the Cats, who will travel again on Sept. 23 to face Cumberland Gap (Tenn.).

The Whitley County Colonels were disappointed after their most recent road trip, putting up a fight against Bell County, but falling in the end by the final score of 38-28. The Colonels, now 1-3 on the year, will travel to Pulaski County in week 6 to for the first district contest of their 2022 campaign.

Finally, the Williamsburg Yellow Jackets will be back in action in week 6, traveling to face Somerset after having the last two weeks off. The Jackets will come into this game against the Briar Jumpers undefeated at 3-0.
