The 2022 high school football regular season is now complete, and all coverage area teams are beginning preparations for postseason play to kick off next week.
The Corbin Redhounds finished their regular season schedule with a perfect 10-0 record, defeating visiting Campbell County 42-0. The Hounds have won their last four games by the combined score of 193-0. Next week, they will host the Harlan County Black Bears (4-6) in the first round of the Class 4A playoffs.
Whitley County also ended their regular season on a high note, pulling off the upset win over the visiting Danville Admirals, 54-50. The win puts the Colonels at 3-7 overall heading into next week’s contest at Woodford County (9-1) in the first round of the Class 5A playoffs.
The Williamsburg Yellow Jackets found themselves in a battle Friday, with visiting Perry County Central giving them a tough test to end the regular season. In the end, however, the Jackets managed to secure a 22-14 victory to improve to 7-2 on the year. The team will not be in action next week, receiving a bye in round one of the Class A playoffs, but they will be back on the field on Friday, Nov. 11, facing either Hazard or Pineville.
Finally, the Lynn Camp Wildcats did not have a happy ending to their regular season campaign, going on the road and falling to McCreary Central, 48-0. The Cats, now 2-8, are scheduled to travel to Pikeville (7-2) next week in the first round of the Class A playoffs.
