Helen Williams Lawson
Helen Williams Lawson, 95, of Poplar Grove Road in Corbin, KY, passed away peacefully at her home on Wednesday, December 22, 2021.
She is survived by her two grandsons, Guy Siler of Cherokee Lake in Rutledge, TN, and Matthew Siler of Corbin; and two great-grandchildren, Andrew and Chloe Siler of Corbin, as well as a host of nephews, nieces, and friends to mourn her passing.
Helen was preceded in death by her husband, William Howard Lawson; daughter, JoAnn Siler; infant daughter, Lois Jean Lawson; son-in-law, Dean Siler; parents, Charlie and Eva Carmony Williams; along with each of her ten brothers and sisters, all of whom she missed very much. Oh, can you imagine the party in Heaven?
She was born July 20, 1926, Helen was a rather feisty ole gal. Maybe it was from being seventh out of eleven children or maybe being a Rosie the Riveter?
Originally from the Harlan area, she and Howard moved to Dayton OH, for work where they lived for many years. After she became office manager for the city of Dayton and straightened them out a time or two, Howard and Helen “retired” to Corbin.
She then became the manager for the local Sears where she worked for some time. After leaving Sears, Helen spent her time grocery shopping, gardening, canning, or walking at the Rec center.
Affectionately known as “Granny” by many, she will be missed dearly, but oh what a day that will be!
The graveside service was held on Sunday, December 26, at the McHargue Cemetery with Jeff Frost officiating.
In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made to Granny’s favorite charity, St. Jude’s Children’s Hospital.

Hart Funeral Home in charge of arrangements.
