Helen Smith
Helen Smith of Knoxville, Tennessee left this life at age 73, at the University of Tennessee Medical Center, to begin her eternal life with her Lord and Savior Jesus on February 10, 2023.
Helen began her life journey on August 30, 1949. She was the fourth child born to Wilma and Glennus Anderson of the Mud Creek Community in Whitley County, KY.
Helen was raised on the family farm along with her eight siblings. After high school Helen moved to Knoxville, Tennessee. There she met her future husband, Tommy Smith. They married on September 21, 1968 and started their family the following year.
Helen was a dedicated wife, mother and grandmother. Helen worked for Partner’s For Children in Knoxville, for the past 21 years, where she cooked the meals for the children. She enjoyed her work and loved her work family. As anyone who knew her would say she could cook anything and was one of the best cooks you’d ever meet hands down.
Helen was a woman of faith. She loved the Lord, a true believer in Jesus Christ. She gave her heart to the Lord many years ago and has served and loved others as Jesus said to do. Her place of worship was where ever she was. She was a woman that easily loved others and when they left her presence they knew they were loved by her.
Helen was preceded in death by her husband, Clyde “Tommy’’ Smith; granddaughter, Lily Rose; parents, Glennus and Wilma Anderson; brothers, Johnny Anderson, Mike Anderson and Carl Anderson; and sisters, Lois Jones and Mary Whitaker.
Helen was a beloved mother, grandmother, great grandmother, sister, aunt and friend.
She leaves her cherished children to mourn her passing, Carolyn “Susie” Hamblin of Knoxville, TN and Selena McClelland, of Knoxville, TN; one adored grandson, Randall Smith and wife Katelyn of Knoxville, TN; three beautiful granddaughters, Danielle Rose, Alissa Smith and August McClelland all of Knoxville, TN; six precious great-grandchildren, Alessa Smith, Anthony Bassette, Landon Stiner, Helena Smith, Neveah Patton and Hudson Ray; her brother, Kenneth Anderson of Detroit, MI; sisters, Orpha Brink of Knoxville, TN and Connie Wells of Williamsburg, KY; her life long best friend Lois Kidd of Williamsburg, KY; and many nieces, nephews, cousins, in-laws and others that will mourn the passing of this wonderful, loving woman.
A visitation for Helen will be held Tuesday, February 14, from 5:00 PM to 7:00 PM at Berry Highland West, 9913 Sherrill Blvd, Knoxville, Tennessee. A funeral service will follow at 7:00 PM.
Family and friends will gather for a graveside service on Wednesday, February 15, at 1:00 PM at Berry Highland West Cemetery.
