Gray woman arrested for stabbing husband Tuesday
A Gray woman was arrested Tuesday after her husband came into the emergency room at St. Joseph Hospital in London with a stab wound to his arm.
Laurel County Sheriff’s deputies say Hope M. Philpot Shelton, 40, stabbed her husband during an altercation at their home on Ky. 830.
"We don’t know what they were arguing about," said Deputy Gilbert Acciardo, public affairs officer at the sheriff’s department. "At first, she denied stabbing him. Then she said they had been arguing but didn’t say what the argument was about."
The investigation began about 1 a.m. Tuesday when deputies were called to the hospital emergency room in response to a complaint that a man had been brought in with a stab wound to the left arm.
Deputy Shawn Boroviak went to the couple’s home to interview Hope Shelton. While at the residence, Boroviak recovered the knife allegedly used in the stabbing behind the residence. Acciardo described it as a medium sized kitchen knife.
Hope Shelton was charged with one count of second-degree assault and lodged in the Laurel County Detention Center. Shelton is being held without bond. She is scheduled to be arraigned today in Laurel District Court.
Acciardo added the couple has one child, but the child was not present during the incident.
At this time, the victim is not facing any charges, Acciardo noted.

Maybe he don’t like that hospital but that does seem odd
Why did he drive all the way to London with a stab wound, when he could’ve took the by-pass and got to the Corbin hospital in like 15 minutes from Grays???
