It’s a good time to get ‘Revived’

Sadly in today’s times, singing, shouting and praising the Lord is something rarely witnessed, but Herschel Walker, of Corbin, is taking steps to remedy the situation.
Herschel, a former pastor of Hopewell Baptist Church, recently organized an old-fashioned Harvest Time Tent Revival, which is currently being held on the side of the road just past Circle K at Corinth Crossing, (Falls Highway 25W and Fifth Street Road, Corbin).
He said God moved on his heart to find a neutral site and invite all people in to get revived. He thinks people have lost their vision, lost their way. They need to pray and ask God for guidance.
When he was burdened to have the revival, he didn’t know where he would hold it, but the Lord made a way for them to have a place to hold the revival, a way to have electricity, a building for storage and so many other things. Herschel feels that God is moving to help in all kinds of ways.
On Sunday night, October 2nd, the first night under the tent started off with a bang with an estimate of over 400 people being in attendance. Some decided to forgo going to their home church and came to enjoy the old fashioned tent meeting.
“We had 350 chairs set up under the tent and I heard there were approximately an additional 125 people outside the tent.” said Herschel.
The revival didn’t officially start until Monday, October 3, and is slated to extend at least two weeks and will run indefinitely, according to Herschel, who says he is waiting to see what God’s plans are.
Herschel mentions he wouldn’t mind it a bit if the revival extended on for three months, but of course the nights will be getting cooler and they would have to find a warm place to move the revival inside. “We just have to trust in the Lord and see.” Herschel said.

Many people gathered under the large tent to listen to gospel singing and to hear William Boyd Bingham III, of Middlesboro, as he preached on the ‘Peace of God’ at the Harvest Time Tent Revival, which is currently being held at Corinth Crossing (Falls Highway 25W and Fifth Street Road in Corbin). The revival will continue indefinitely. Pastor Herschel Walker, organizer of the event, invites all to attend and get revived. (Photo by TERESA BROOKS.)
Some of the well known preachers who have been in attendance this past week include: Jessie James Buell from Speedwell, TN, who pastors at Central Heights in Dandridge, TN; William Boyd Bingham, II, of Middlesboro, KY who pastors at Binghamtown Baptist Church in Middlesboro; his son, William Boyd Bingham, III; and Luke Kidwell, who pastors a church in Clinton, TN.
Singers scheduled for the revival include: Roger West and the Trinity Trio from Corbin; Wade Spencer Gospel Bluegrass from Ohio; the Irvin Family (Joe, Ilene and Brittany) from Barbourville; Pastor James Hodge and the Believers from Corbin; Solid Rock Baptist Youth from Corbin; Carol Woodard (Peg McKamey’s Sister) from Clinton, TN; The Walker Family from Corbin; Voices of Praise from Corbin; Jennifer Reeder from Whitley City; and Reed Elliotte from Corbin.
“You need to get revived. I need to get revived. That’s what we’ve come to do!” Herschel stated.
“You would be amazed at the miracles that have been under this revival tent,” said Herschel, speaking of the many people who had been afflicted with cancer and many different ailments which have survived and are doing well due to the graciousness of the Lord.
“Revival is God’s people humbling themselves, praying, seeking God’s will for their life, and turning from their sins. If we, as God’s people will do this, God has promised to hear our prayers, forgive our sins, and heal our land. This promise is given in the Word of God 1st Chronicles 7:14. I am inviting everyone, sinner and saint. For the sake of our nation, we must get right with God, so he can fulfill this great promise.” said Herschel.
