Gillis Clawson

Gillis Clawson, 95, of Williamsburg, passed away Sunday, December 2, 2018 at Baptist Health Corbin.

He was born March 1, 1923 in Speedwell, TN to the late Marshall and Rosetta Miracle Clawson.

He was a veteran of the U.S. Army serving in World War II. He was a member of Briar Creek Baptist Church.

He is survived by his wife Irene Clawson of Williamsburg; daughter, Sandra Ruth Brannon of Cincinnati, OH; grandson, Taylor Austin Brannon of Cincinnati, OH; several nieces, nephews and a host of relatives and friends to mourn his passing.

Funeral service will be held at 1 p.m. Thursday, December 6, at Ellison Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Bill Mitchell and Sam Lawson officiating.

Interment will be in the Broyles Cemetery at Rockholds.

Visitation will be 6 p.m. Wednesday, December 5, at the funeral home.
Whitley County High School Junior ROTC will conduct military graveside honors.
