Turnovers proved to be the difference as the Corbin Redhounds lost a heart-breaker to the Wayne County Cardinals 26-23. An interception by Junior Ruiz late in the second quarter gave the Cardinals the lead for good. The Redhounds trailed 26-15 when they rallied for a score with 5:35 left in the game. Quarterback Taylor Waddle hit Josh Jewell on a 35 yard pass. He hit Hunter Grubb on the conversion to pull the Redhounds within three, 26-23. The Redhounds defense held the Cardinals twice in the final 5:35 only to be intercepted on a first-down play.
Whitley County invaded the Briar Patch at Somerset and came away with a 14-7 win. Senior Boston Bryant led the Colonels with 74 yards rushing. No other details were available.
In other games: Pineville rolled past Allen Central 44-0, Bell Co. humilated Casey Co. 54-13, Morgan County shutout Jackson Co. 44-0, Madison Southern surprised Lincoln Co. 47-19, Harlan Co. edged GRC 23-14, Knox Central topped Clay Co. 42-6 and Russell County shut out Rockcastle Co. 37-0.
North Laurel blew a 21-0 lead to Pulaski County in a Thursday night game and lost to the Pulaski County Maroons, 28-21 in the final minutes of the game while South Laurel lost a heart-breaker to Southwestern, 42-41 in overtime.
