Frances Hope Collins Monroe
Frances Hope Collins Monroe, age 75, of Williamsburg, KY, departed this life on Saturday, June 1, 2024 at Baptist Health Lexington.
She was born on March 27, 1949 to Everette Millard and Elizabeth Aileen Collins. Along with her parents she was preceded in death by her husband, Bob Monroe; her son, Chad Monroe; sister, Sondra Owens; sister-in-law, Pat Collins; maternal grandparents, John and Lillie Collins; and paternal grandparents, Earl and Marie Hankins.
Hope and her husband Bob owned Southern Belle Carpet in Indianapolis, for many, many years. In 2003 they moved back to her family home, which everyone lovingly calls The Farm, to enjoy their retirement. She was a member of the Cumberland Freewill Baptist Church, a member of the Willing Workers Womens Group, and a member of the Eastern Star.
No one loved their family more than Hope. She always out did herself when she knew family was coming to visit and purchased way too much at the grocery store because she always wanted to have her family’s favorite foods on hand when they came down.
Hope’s favorite hobbies were embroidering quilts, reading, word searches, and making flower arrangements. She always took pride in her appearance and loved to dress up. The hairdresser was her favorite place to go. Her passion for cooking, baking, and gifting to others came straight from her heart.
She is survived by her brother, Homer (Deb) Collins of Williamsburg, KY; sister, Bernice (Chuck) Hyden of Buckhorn, KY; brother-in-law, Robert Owens of Williamsburg, KY; and several nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends who will miss her greatly.
Funeral service will be 12:00 PM on Saturday, June 8, at the Ellison Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Jerome Cox, Rev. Joshua Bowman, and Rev. Gary Lovitt officiating.
Interment will be in Cumberland Freewill Cemetery.
Visitation will be 5:00 PM Friday, June 7, at the funeral home.
