Four men arrested for robbery of Circle K in Corbin

Updated surveillance photos of men suspected of in the robbery of the Circle K store on Gordon Street Monday. Police are seeking the identity of the men.

Update: Four men have been arrested by Corbin Police in connection with the robbery of the Circle K store on Gordon Street. The suspectes were taken into custody early Wednesday morning.

The suspects arrested have been identified as: Tanner Warman, 21, of Woodbine; Michael Needham, 19, of Corbin; Austin Brown, 18, of Corbin and Zach Turner, 18, of London. They were arrested at Creekside Apartments in Corbin.

While the initial video surveillence offered few details, police secured additional footage of the suspects as they walked into the Corbin Walmart Tuesday. Additional footage of the parking lot showed the individuals getting into a silver Pontiac sedan.

According to Major Rob Jones, the department’s public affiairs officer, officers Ken Proffitt and Wade Mitchell spoted a vehicle matching that description at Creekside Apartments and observed three males matching the description of the robbers getting out of the vehicle.

Warman, Needham and Brown were detain and following questioning by Detective Bill Rose, charged with robbery.

Rose said as part of the questioning, he showed the trio photos from the Walmart surveillence and asked about the fourth individual. The trio said the four had been riding around that night and that the fourth individual, later identified as Turner, remained in the car during the robbery.

Warman, Needham and Brown were each charged with second-degree robbery. Turner was charged with complicity to commit robbery. They were lodged in the Whitley County Detention Center.

Corbin Police were initially searching for three men who robbed the Circle K store on Gordon Street Monday morning.

According to Detective Bill Rose, the  men came into the store about 4:30 a.m. One of the men remained at the door to serve as a lookout while the other two approached the counter and demanded money and a carton of cigarettes.

“One of the men stuck his hand in the pocket of his hoodie as if he had a gun,” Rose said when asked if the robbers were armed. “We are treating it as if it is an armed robbery.”

With the money in hand, Rose said the three men each grabbed a six-pack of beer before fleeing the scene.

A store clerk said the robbers made off with about $65 in cash.

Police estimated the robbers were in and out of the store in less than 10 minutes

The clerk on duty told police that the men ran across the parking lot, dropping the beer in the process. They continued on foot, running across Gordon Street and turning right toward Barton Mill Ave.

“With them coming in and leaving on foot, it appears they live close to the store,” said Corbin Police Detective Rusty Hedrick.
Based on the video and clerk’s description, police described the robbers as white males, no taller than 6’ and weighing 140-145 pounds. They were each wearing hoodie sweatshirts and blue jeans and used bandanas to cover their faces.

The same store was robbed in June 2011.

Rose said based on the pictures of the robbers secured from the store’s video surveillance, it does not appear to be the same individuals.
