Four hurt when truck broadsides car in Corbin Thursday

One person was flown from the University of Kentucky Medical Center and three others were taken to Baptist Regional Medical Center after a pickup truck broadsided a passenger car at the intersection of U.S. 25E and Corbin Bypass Thursday night.
According to Corbin Police Capt. Coy Wilson, the incident occurred about 5 p.m. when Chad Bright, 20, ran a red light in his Chevrolet S-10 pickup and hit the Ford Focus driven by Gary Dustin Gibbs, 23, in the left side.
Corbin Firefighters were called to the scene to extricate the driver and two passengers from the Ford Focus.
Firefighters had to use the Jaws-of-Life to cut both doors off left side of the car to get the victims out.
Wilson said Gibbs was airlifted, while his wife, Marie Nelson, 24, and their child, along with a Jessica Smith, 18, who was a passenger in the Chevrolet S-10, were taken to BRMC.
Wilson said there is nothing to suspect either drugs or alcohol were a factor in the crash.
Traffic in both directions on 25E and on the bypass was brought to a halt for about 45 minutes as emergency personnel worked to clear the scene.
