Four arrested after woman allegedly propositions man to have sex for drugs at Williamsburg Pilot
Williamsburg police say a local woman apparently propositioned a man, who was on his way home to Ohio after a trip to a Florida pain clinic, for drugs early Wednesday morning in the parking lot of a local business.
"It is believed the female had approached and propositioned the male subject in Pilot parking lot in exchange for narcotics. The female made a statement to Officer Jason Strunk that she and a group of girls had been ‘working the truck stop,’" Public Affairs Officer Shawn Jackson said in a press release.
About 4 a.m., Strunk and Sgt. Mike Taylor responded to Pilot Travel Center after getting a complaint about two "suspicious" people who were possibly shoplifters, according to the press release. When police arrived, one subject went straight to a vehicle and tried to leave the scene. When Taylor tried to stop the vehicle, the driver and passenger tried to exchange seats, according to the press release.
Through the investigation Taylor determined that the two had been to a pain clinic in Tampa, Florida. Police also learned that the pair was waiting for a third person, who was with them and had left with a woman he met in the parking lot. A short time later, Taylor located the second vehicle, and conducted a traffic stop.
"Sgt. Taylor determined that the female driving this vehicle was from Williamsburg, had approached the male from Ohio and made an agreement," Jackson wrote in the release.
All four people are facing charges. In the first vehicle, Williamsburg police charged Keith Weinrich, 24, of Greenfield, Ohio, with driving while under the influence, changing drivers, possession of drug paraphernalia, and driving on a suspended license. Police charged Elizabeth A. Cross, 23, also of Greenfield, Ohio, with public intoxication, possession of drug paraphernalia, changing drivers, and having a prescription controlled substance not in its original container.
Both people in the second vehicle are also facing charges. Police charged Kristy N. Mefford with driving while under the influence, and passenger Shawn Simmons, 29, of Greenfield, Ohio, with public intoxication and third-degree trafficking in a controlled substance.
Taylor is continuing the investigation and other arrests are possible.
