Jerry Noe
A former Whitley County court bailiff who also ran for magistrate in 2014 was arrested Sunday morning for domestic violence.
63-year-old Jerry Noe is accused of threatening his wife with a gun and putting his elbow in her neck during a argument.
According to Deputy Lonnie Sawyers, he responded to a call that Noe had threatened his wife with a gun at the couple’s home on Devils Road in Williamsburg about 9:30 a.m..
Annette Noe told deputies that Jerry Noe had been taking pills.
“Jerry’s eyes were glassy and bloodshot,” Sawyers stated, adding that Noe’s speech was slurred and he was unsteady on his feet.
“Jerry appeared to be intoxicated,” Sawyers stated.
Jerry Noe’s son, Robert, who was also present, reportedly told deputies that Jerry Noe had threatened to break Annette Noe’s neck and that when Robert intervened, his father smacked him and then went and got a pistol.
Jerry Noe was charged with fourth-degree assault (domestic violence) – no visible injury and lodged in the Whitley County Detention Center.
Jerry Noe was released on a $750 surety bond, meaning he is not required to post any money or property but signs paperwork agreeing to appear in court as required.
The individual who answered a call to the home phone listed on the arrest citation indicated that it was the wrong number to reach Jerry Noe.
Jerry Noe served as a court bailiff under former Sheriff Lawrence Hodge. He was not rehired when Sheriff Colan Harrell took office in 2011.
Jerry Noe ran as a write-in candidate for the fourth-district magistrate seat on the Whitley County Fiscal Court in the 2014 primary election.
