Former Williamsburg coach gets 1 year in jail for sexually abusing teen student

A former Williamsburg volunteer assistant football coach, who pleaded guilty late last year to fooling around with a 16-year-old female student, has a new residence at the Whitley County Detention Center for the next 12 months.
Whitley Circuit Judge Paul Winchester followed the terms of the plea agreement and sentenced John Massey, 27, to a 30-month sentence for first-degree sexual abuse and two counts of possession of matter portraying a sexual performance of a minor.
Massey will be required to serve the first 12 months of that sentence in jail and then the remainder of the sentence will be probated for five years. Winchester also ordered Massey to pay $140 court costs.
Massey, who until now had been free on bond, began serving his sentence Monday afternoon
