The Williamsburg Yellow Jackets moved to 13-0 on the year Friday night, defeating the Hazard Bulldogs on the road 48-14. The win gives the Jackets their second region title in a row, and advances them to the state semifinals next week where they will meet up with the Raceland Rams (11-2). This will be another road game for Williamsburg. They defeated Raceland at home last year to qualify for an appearance in the 2013 Class A state championship game. The Rams defeated Painstsville 32-21 Friday to make it to the semifinal round.
Also Friday, the Corbin Redhound saw their season come to an end in heartbreaking fashion when they lost 36-33 to visiting Louisville Central. Despite jumping out to a large lead early in the game, costly penalties haunted the Hounds as Central was able to score on the final play of the game to take the win. Corbin had won 11 in a row coming into Friday’s contest, and they end the season with an overall record of 11-2.
