Flara Lawson Ponder Mahan

Flara Lawson Ponder Mahan went to a reunion in Heaven on Friday morning December 1, 2017 at the home of her daughter Sharon, where she had been since her birthday July 30th.

She was 83 years 4 months and 1 day young. She was surrounded by her husband, her children, grandchildren and great grandchildren who will miss her dearly until they join her in Heaven.

Flara was preceded in death by her parents Luther John Lawson and Mary Liz Lawson, baby brother Charlie Monroe Lawson, older sister Essie Lawson, older brother Estes Lawson and wife and childhood friend Ruth Wynn Lawson.

She is survived by her husband Billy Ray Mahan; two daughters; Sharon Wilson and husband Charles, Jenny Wilson and husband Oshie Jr.; son David Ponder and special friend Sherry; special nephew who she loved like a son Joe Ponder and special friend Rose; step-daughter Tammy Blakley and step-son Ray Mahan; seven grandchildren; Shaunda Wilson Higginbotham and husband Boyd, C.J. Wilson and wife Brooke, Deidra Wilson Putnam and husband Warren, Austin Ponder and wife Jessica, Paige Ponder, Dalton Ponder, Tracy Dean and husband John; nine great grandchildren; Billie Berry, Sheyane Mowery, Kristopher Mowery, Deavin Wilson, Ethan Wilson, Braden Wilson, Chloe Wilson, Emily Wilson, Tandon Ponder; five special great grandchildren; Macey, Johnathan and McKinley Leach, Cadence and Kynzlee Wynn; five great great grandchildren; four step great grandchildren Rachael, Ben, Becky and McKayla Higginbotham; four sisters; Geneva Mays, Pearl Monhollen, Dewie Bowlin, Emma Rains and husband Glen; three brothers Archie Lawson and wife Dorothy, Robert Lawson and Danny Lawson, sister-in-law; Glenda Lawson several nieces, nephews and a host of friends, family will celebrate her reunion in Heaven with Jesus.

The funeral service was held Monday December 4, at Ellison Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Oshie Wilson Jr., Rev. Bill Wilder and Rev. Gary Lovitt officiating. Interment was in the Wilson Cemetery.
