Five injured in three-vehicle crash in Corbin

Corbin firefighters had to extricate one of the five people injured in a three-vehicle wreck on U.S. 25W Friday afternoon.
According to Corbin Police Sgt. Glenn Taylor, the wreck occurred about 3:45 when the driver of a Pontiac G6 rear ended a Toyota sedan as the Toyota driver attempted to turn left into the parking lot of Moonbow Plaza.
"The Pontiac hit the Toyota and pushed it into oncoming traffic where it was struck by a third vehicle," Taylor said.
One of the passengers in the Toyota, who had suffered a serious leg injury, had to be extricated.
"All five of the people injured are being taken to the hospital," Taylor said.
The names of the injured were not immediately available.
Traffic in both directions was stopped for about 45 minutes as emergency personnel worked to clear the scene.
Kentucky State Police and Whitley County EMS assisted at the scene.
