Fire guts home on Blakes Fork Road

A late morning fire Thursday completely gutted a Blakes Fork house despite the efforts of firefighters from four volunteer fire departments.
"Goldbug Volunteer Fire Department really appreciates the response from neighboring fire departments. It was good to see good team work in action," said Goldbug Chief Dorman Patrick Jr.
Patrick said that there are no suspicious circumstances surrounding the blaze at this time, but he has contacted the Kentucky Fire Marshall’s Office to help determine the cause and origin of the fire.
The fire at 115 Hubert Siler Road was reported at 10:49 a.m. and when firefighters arrived they discovered black heavy smoke and flames coming out of the residence, Patrick said.
Firefighters had a nervous few minutes when they discovered a pick-up truck parked in the driveway, but later confirmed that no one was inside the residence.
Gail Wilson owned the two-story brick home, where she resided at with her daughter and son.
24 firefighters and seven fire trucks from Goldbug, Emlyn, Rockholds and Woodbine volunteer fire departments labored for three and one-half hours to extinguish the blaze.
Shortly after 4 p.m., they were called back to the residence after the fire rekindled.
No one was injured during the blaze.
The pick-up truck, which was also owned by the homeowner, was damaged due to the fire.
"The home is considered a total loss," Patrick added.
