Fire guts doublewide trailer on Meadow Creek

Four area fire departments were called out Friday afternoon to battle a fire that gutted a doublewide trailer on Meadow Creek Road (Ky. 1064) in Woodbine.
Woodbine Fire Chief Rick Fore said his department was paged to the scene about 2 p.m.
Oak Grove Fire Department was paged out at the same time as part of the departments’ mutual aid agreement. Rockholds and West Knox Fire departments were later paged for manpower and tanker trucks.
The owner of the home, identified as Portia Cox, was not at home at the time. Her niece, Tessa Hopkins, said Cox was at the hospital when the fire broke out, helping to take care of a sick family member.
Passers-by reportedly saw the fire and called 911.
Hopkins said Cox had left the home about two hours prior to the fire breaking out.
Firefighters had the blaze knocked down several times, only to see it flare up again.
Just after 5 p.m., Fore told Whitley County E911 dispatchers that firefighters were in the mop up stages and West Knox and Rockholds firefighters were leaving the scene.
The cause of the fire remains under investigation.

Really I’m rude? These idiots had their trucks parked in the middle of the road for no reason, someone could have been killed trying to go around them on that blind curve! It was rude of them to just sit there and watch traffic back up (and a home burning) and not direct traffic!
Yes the dogs is OK. Her niece takes it everywhere with her when he can and she had it.I’m told outside dog was still there and ok
This is just a very mean statement. They are volunteers and you should be happy they do this. Absolutely rude of you.
Did they save her dogs??? She had an inside Chihuahua and last time I was there she had an outside dog as well.. I know she loved the Chihuahua was like her baby!
I’m very surprised that a serious accident did not occur as a result of one of your firetrucks along with one of your firemen’s personal vehicle intentionally blocking one side of hwy 1064. What was the point in this? That fire was absolutely nowhere near the road! Even if there was a reason should your department had someone directing traffic around your trucks instead of just standing there looking at the traffic backing up, then seeing people eventually grow frustrated and pass on a dangerous blind curve, while your so called “life savers” stood there and watched? Those trucks had no business in the road whatsoever! Yeah we get it, we saw your big red truck, we saw the little pickup with the cheap lights in the windshield, we saw your so called “firemen” with their wranglers tucked down in their Walmart fireman boots and talking on their walkie talkies chewing tobacco, scratching their backsides. From what I can tell a home was lost and a bad accident was very narrowly avoided! Way to go…
We were coming back from my sons house when we saw smoke. I backed up and pulled down the drive to see to men. We asked if they had called the fire department or 911 and they said yes about 20 mins ago. The one guy said it was his aunts house and she was gone to the doctors. We couldn’t get no signal on cells so we kept trying until we got signal to let them know there was a house up in blaze. We didn’t hear no sirens so as soon as we got to woodbine we stoped and let them know about the house. When we let the house the other two left as well.
